Fairycore Bedroom Diaries 3 – From Old Desk to Enchanted Vanity

Welcome back to the Fairycore Bedroom Diaries! In this third edition, I took on one of my favorite transformations so far—turning a beat-up old wooden desk into the dreamiest fairy-themed vanity.

What started as a tired, scratched, “please don’t look too closely at me” desk is now a whimsical, functional, absolutely magical piece that fits perfectly into our growing fairycore space.

Stripping Away the Old Magic

The desk had years of wear on it, so the first step was giving it a full reset. I stripped the old finish, sanded it down smooth, and gave it a fresh coat of soft, clean white paint. Just that alone made the piece look completely different—lighter, brighter, and ready for its glow-up.

Adding Enchanted Details

No fairycore makeover is complete without delicate little details. I swapped out the old handle for something more charming and added decorative floral moldings to the drawers. Painting the moldings to match the fairy theme was surprisingly fun—like adding tiny enchanted blooms that look like they sprouted right out of the wood.

The Tricky Part: Drawer Tracks

One unexpected challenge? The old-school wooden drawer tracks. They had their vintage charm, but they didn’t keep the drawers from sliding out and falling. Not ideal for a vanity!

So I removed the entire system and upgraded to self-stopping metal tracks. It took some precision and a little patience, but once they clicked into place, the drawers worked like a dream.

A Final Touch of Fairy Magic

When it all came together, the vanity looked—and worked—better than I imagined. It’s whimsical yet practical, pretty yet sturdy, and it fits beautifully into the fairy bedroom. Seeing this once-forgotten desk become something magical made the whole project worth it.
