🏡 From Bare to Beautiful: Our Front Door Makeover

Some projects take time to come together — and our front porch was one of them!
A while ago, we had to replace our front door. To keep it budget-friendly and to have creative freedom, we bought an unfinished door that came just primed, ready to be painted in any color we liked. Later, we added a small roof over the porch to protect the entryway. But somehow, the whole look still felt… unfinished.
That’s when I decided it was finally time to give the front door the love it deserved.
🎨 Choosing the perfect color
I’ve always loved rich, deep neutrals that feel welcoming yet sophisticated. After some thought, I went with Chocolate from Fusion Mineral Paint — a gorgeous, velvety brown that grounds the space beautifully.
Painting the door wasn’t just about color — it was about bringing warmth and personality to the entrance of our home.
🖼️ Adding character above the door
Above the actual door, there’s a rectangular space that felt plain and empty. Instead of leaving it blank, I decided to frame it like a piece of art.
I created a simple picture frame and added artwork from iTokri — an India-based online store that collaborates with artisans across the country. The piece we chose fits perfectly with our theme, adding cultural depth and handmade charm right at the entrance.
✨ The transformation so far
There’s still more work to do to completely finish styling the porch — from final touches to maybe some new lighting or seasonal decor. But the first and biggest step is done: turning a plain primed door into a welcoming, character-filled statement piece.
It’s amazing how much difference a bit of color and thoughtful detail can make. Our front door now feels like it truly belongs — and it makes me smile every time I walk up to it.
✅ Tips if you’re planning your own front door makeover
Choose an unfinished door if you’d like to customize color and save some money.
Use a good quality paint specifically made for exterior use — like mineral paint, which is durable and easy to apply.
Think beyond just the door: add frames, artwork, or even vintage hardware to create visual interest.
Look for handmade or artisan items that tell a story and make your space unique.
