This post is part of The Fairycore Bedroom Diaries, where I share the progress of turning my daughter’s room into a whimsical fairycore retreat. With each project, I’m weaving in nature-inspired details and reusing what we already own to keep the makeover sustainable, magical, and personal. 🌼
Step 2 – Magical Curtains
With the walls fresh and bright, it was time to bring in some softness and a touch of whimsy. Curtains are a focal point in any bedroom, and I knew they could set the tone for the whole fairycore vibe.
Custom-made magic:
Instead of buying new curtains, I decided to create my own using fabric I purchased from Etsy. This gave me the freedom to design something unique for my daughter’s space.
The fabric choice:
I combined two different fabrics:
A sparkly soft green that catches the light beautifully during the day.
A gentle pink floral print that adds romance and ties into the enchanted-garden theme.
The process:
I sewed the two fabrics to create panels, making sure the proportions felt balanced—just enough sparkle without overwhelming the delicate florals. Once finished, I hung them up, and the transformation was instant.
The effect:
The curtains frame the window like something out of a storybook. During the day, sunlight bounces off the sparkles, while the florals soften the the room. At night, they add a dreamy coziness that makes the space feel like a hidden nook in a magical forest.
✨ Fairycore Touch: Curtains aren’t just functional—they’re an opportunity to layer in color, texture, and whimsy. These custom ones feel like they were made for a fairy cottage.
